Korean French Toast

As I woke up this past Sunday in Seoul, after spending the night at Nora's place again, I thought how nice it would be to make some pancakes for her and her family. I had brought the syrup I found a while back, and after a little coaxing and coffee I headed out the door in search of the pancake mix. After stopping down at one of the neighborhood stores and coming up blank, I thought "why not do french toast?". I grabbed a loaf of bread and was soon on my way back up the hill to their apartment. I walked in and began mixing everything I would need and asking Nora for a frying pan. She gave me a quizzical look and pronounced that she didn't have any wine for french toast, but sure, here was the frying pan. Huh? Guess that must be peruvian style. After thinking about that for a second, I set myself to cooking. Things came out well, and I actually didn't burn any....which I'm often very good at. We took out the small portable table and soon had everything, complete with eggs also, set on the small table ready for us to kneel at and begin. The two boys were chomping at the bit to begin, so without delay, we soon set in. I sat there smiling for a while, as I put a couple slices on my plate and dug in. It was almost like home. There had to be a small twist though. Out came the "eating" scissors and soon Kim, Nora's husband was, cutting the boys french toast that lay in their bowls. Where we would take our forks and knives to cut a childs food, they grabbed the kimchi snipping scissors and that's their style. I just sorta laughed and continued eating. Oh yeah....they definitely liked the American style french toast though.
